lol - nope. ive seen that pic before that - just a photochop image same here. and why exactly is it called the freedom tower?
I'm not sure I like the look of the building, but it will be interesting to see completed. I personaly like the relatively old-fashoned way the old ones looked, all this "new-age" futuristic stuff is prety ugly IMO. I'm interested to see how long it takes them to build this thing, may be built in time for my children to work there
so you got the info. for my next vacation already? jeez, you're fast. (j/k... i would never be capable of that)
I too dislike the modern look- but it could be far worse. As the name freedom goes, I don't see any big reason why it shouldn't be named freedom, but I'm not sure that would have ben my first choice. L J
The only thing I don't like about it is the spire... and maybe the odd angle of the roof... But my view is purely archetectural, as I never saw the original towers except in pictures or on TV...
i think the whole freedom-tagging thing is getting waaay over done to an extent where the word is going to lose its 'value'. i mean we started calling french fries "freedom fries" because the french didnt support us? oh man did we ever show them! </uber mega amount of sarcasm> and i also agree it's a bit on the ugly side too. so it's going to actually be the WTC? i would have thought they would just build a monument to all those who dided, not a new (ugly) building...
there's a contest for the September 11th memorial here the new WTC building isn't really to memorialize them...well not as much as the memorial will be heh
The funny thing about this is that Mr Libeskind is living in Germany for about 15 years and has been against the war on Iraq... I hope that no patriotism-organisations will use this against him.
Nice design, it look svery futuristic and delicate - the old towers looked very very ugly IMO and this is a rather nice-looking replacement. Like the little extra section for powering it too, that'll look great
