------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey Folks, if you are in the US, and you didn't go to QuakeCon then you missed out on a lot. All my photos and a few videos are here: http://www.zapwizard.com/events/quakecon-04 Be sure to check out the pictures on the site. I also have videos of the Speed Building contest, [H]ardOCP crushing a Phantom, and the Mod contest awards ceremony. Respect to Sheldog23, as he won 2nd place with his Unreal2k Case: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=49411 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I won the nVidia PC Speed Building contest. With a time of 05:34.40 59 seconds better then the fastest prelimanary time. The prize is a fully loaded Athlon64 system with GeForve 6800GT (I don't know the rest of the specs just yet)
Yet more reasons to envy the crap outta you So what are you going to do with your new overly powerful athlon 64 rig? Could you give it away at a contest?
I was worried more about being the fastest then the prize. If is a 939 CPU, it will become my main PC pretty quick.
yeah... I wanna try building a computer really fast. without practice, I bet I could do it in about 7 or 8 minutes. (been thinking of that)
WoW lol takes me about 20 min too build a entire pc and put it in a case Is this just putting components into the mobo or ENTIRELY in a case?
There is a video here: http://www.zapwizard.com/events/quakecon-04/Events/Speed/Speed-Building.wmv But here is the before picture:
Wow that is pretty fast. It usually takes me about an hour to build a computer because I usually throw the screwdriver somewhere behind me until I need it - then I can not find it.
Asus A7N8X-Deluxe is the one that they used in the speed build. (DOnt quote me, thats what it looks like in the video) and I bet Zap won and Asus Nforce3 board. Hey zap am I right?
Congratulations on the Speed build. I was actually offered to go to it this year for my birthday, but my mom didn't ask till like yesterday, which is too short of notice to get plane tickets to Dallas, from Wisconsin. My sincerest jealocies.
hey great job zap! I never thought of how fast i could build a computer. I guess my aim is to make it nice and fancy. Plus i goof around and drool over really nice part. (i build computers for a living for people with more money than they know what to do with so i give em a few ideas )
I was at QuakeCon also, and Zap is a full minute faster than me... ...of course, when I put the hard drive in, I didnt notice I put it in upside down AND backwards (there's your minute ) Seriously QuakeCon was a LOAD of fun. We definitely need more people there next year. And I never realized until just now that the Agent in Zap's avatar is actually him...just never saw him IRL before
You should have been there. It was pretty damn impressive. He made a risky move of booting it up before he had all the screws in but it paid off in the end. Great move and congrats. [edit] oh and zap, I won second.
Last year the case you built was the case you won. But, umm ya parts break. This year the parts were AthlonXP stuff, and the case you win will be shipped to you. All I have is that it's a fully loaded Athlon64 system. Ah, so you were the guy. The announcer mentioned you nearly every round. (it's also in the video) Ya, my avatar is me from Halloween, it's in the "fun stuff" section of my website. Yes, I didn't get a placing in the mod contest. But then again, the ATI Demo PC was more of a case mod, then from the ground up. Congrats Sheldog
Congrats Zap and Sheldog! This was my first year at Quakecon, and I really enjoyed myself! Well, most of the time anyway. I was having a horrible time with my allergies . There were some impressive mods this year. Hopefully we will get an even better prize offering for the mod comp next year! And yeah, Sheldog got 2nd not 3rd!
