Original story OK, this is an editorial, but it's based on a published study. For some reason the AP and other major news outlets didn't pick this story up and so this is the best article on it I can find. Hopefully Nexxo can come up with the abstract from the journal article.
So, conservatives know how to get to the heart of the issue and get things done, while liberals overthink until they can't see the forest for the trees? Sounds right to me. If it's actually in the brain, does that mean we can officially declare liberalism a mental disorder?
Hehehe, an entertaining post that provides great evidence supporting the research talked about in the article. I do wonder where us libertarians come in on research like this.
So conservatives are dumb people who can't even understand the simpliest problem or solution? Sounds right to me.
And liberals are wishy-washy wafflers who declare that "fur is murder", and then go to a posh restaurant to eat filet mignon... Sounds about right.
Oi, we're called champagne socialists thankyouverymuch! *spec kids, spec would never declare fur is murder, fur is warm and damn cool, nothing else*
Right here. A whole bunch of Google results which discuss the article here. Although it makes intuitive sense to me that people's personality and cognitive traits influence their political insights, I think it is very tricky to generalise a result on a rather abstract neuropsychological test on a very small sample to some deep understanding of how people see the world. Value judgements also are inevitable. Who is to say which cognitive traits are "better" than the others? We made that mistake when comparing male and female cognitive differences, or those across cultures. Kind of all depends on the context and environmental demands, don't it?
