does anybody know where i can get a res in the uk? i dont want to use a tubberware box, and i dont want to use the tube because i dont want to cut up the case its going into. ive heard about these cylinder ones, these sound perfect, more info about them and where you can get them in the UK please? thanks, .icecube
Just finished my new Res last night. I will post some pictures in due course. I need to test my idea first, the early signs are good and looks as good as I expected. Testing stage will be done at the weekend. My only concern is it's performance. I will be writing it all up and and have taken loads of pics. If it fails I may still post, as someone might see a better way of doing it. Just waiting for the glue to dry
i think ive decided to just put "the tube" res at the back of the case, should work good. the only thing i should have to cut is a little bit of the PCI slot holes to get the tubes in and out of the case. im using thick 1/2" tubing, people say it dosnt bit through one hole, thats why im going to cut the metal and have 2 slots. any better way of getting the tubes outta the case without cutting? .icecube
Ive got to cut a pice out of mine but its going to be worth it in the end as watercooling 0wnz,cant wait to get shot of my fans..wohooo...
: OverclockedPC : sells an acrylic tube res. : Wizard Designs : may start selling that kick-ass cool aluminium res from Aqua-Computer .
The good thing I wanted in my design was I wanted to build and test the rig outside the case. Then after the testing is complete just pop it and fire it up. I'm also using this as LAN box so my design didn't allow for any sticking out bits. The only thing you'll see will be the filling point and the switch for the pump. I put my Res on the Araga last night on the warm part not hot to cure and harden the glue. I just need a visit to the model shop now for some paint.
Hehe - I'm gonna be using a custom made relay unit now, made by no_1_pc doc over at GiB. It's gonna be cool - 1 bloooo illuminated switch on the front of the case to start the pump before the system to start the coolin process But the clever bit... muahahahah if I'm a muppet and forget to turn the pump on due to being under the influence or summink , the intelligent relay unit will automatically turn the pump on when I hit the power button as well- even if the switch is off - fail safe as I say kudos to no_1 - have to mention him so I've not faked my modding skillz
Well this is the custom copper res i made for my system: And here in the middle of being chrome painted. Test fit: Here it is installed and glowing under lights: Started out as a copper pot with a lid that slipped over the top, with a bit of solder, a couple of blowtorches for heat and some threaded reducers and hose barbs, the finished product was developed. Turned out quite nicely, holds 1.5L of water and sits directly above the pump, supplying a direct gravity feed to the pump. Everything inside the case, and pump relay opperated. More pics can be seen Here.
Very nice job, when I first saw it I thought that's a strange place for it. Having seen all the other pic's, It makes sense. Shame you painted it, would have put some elbow grease on it for a polished and lacquered finish. Nice job.
Only got one more of those copper pots lying around So it would have to be a very limited edition unless i could find another source of them, as i have had them lying around for a few years for another project that never was.
