Back when BT did the offer with MO for the 4x20 lcds, I bought one and stupidly plugged it into a standard floppy power cable before checking things. Well, it doesn't work now. Anyone know what I need to replace to get it going... I'm hoping it's just some fet or something. I was going to ask MO themselves but I got a feeling they might say "you will need to purchase our new amazing 3127361 dollar usb unit". TIA
it's probably screwed up beyond repair, they don't cover it in their waranty, because they say not to do that so you'll probably have to buy a new one (they still make the serial ones)
cmon, surely it'll just have fried some power regulators or something... i suppose i'll take it to bits and have a look. i just hoped someone would know what was likely to have popped.
this is a 5 volt thing, right? normally that means that there is no regulators... nor regulators means that all the IC's are connected directly to the powerleads... so if you give it 12 volts you will in most cases fry all the IC's at the same time... and there isn't much more on a LCD than ic's, a glass plate and a few resistors..... the ic's is also the most costy thing. so if you have to change alle the ic's you will prpbably end up paying more for them than it costs for a nes LCD... sorry..
