AMD's "Don't mention the war
SPECTRE" strategy is paying dividends. An entire new CPU lineup launched without hardware mitigations, without so much as the bat of an eyelid (protection for SPECTRE v.2 is reliant on microcode updates, which roll out with the second gen chipsets but are still MIA for many first gen motherboards, and SPECTRE v.1 is OS-mitigation only). Even the Rome press conference did not even add a slide footnote for SPECTRE (though IIRC mention has been made in the past of at least some microcode mitigations moving to hardware for Zen 2).
