    In building a fanbus, one set of parts I came across specified a 470-ohm resistor. At my local electronics store, the only thing I saw were 470k-ohm resistors. Is 470k right? Or do I actually want 470? I didn't see any 470-ohm resistors.

    As always, thanks

    No, 470k is 470,000 ohms.

    Some common abbreviations you may see:
    4R7 = 4.7 ohms
    47R = 47 ohms
    4k7 = 4.7kilohms = 4,700 ohms
    47k = 47,000 ohms
    4M7 = 4.7 megohms = 4,700,000 ohms
    47M = 47,000,000 ohms

    Good stuff .. thanks

    I assumed that the person writing the how-to may have omitted the "k" from the 470-ohms.
