Being the intelligent person I am, I have removed a partion on my hard drive.. (the only partition on the hard drive)
Which means I got rid of 30 gig of data in less than one second. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!
(2500 songs, my first few 3d animations, all my digi pics of my fiancee and I.. gone :cries: *sniff*)

If you only removed the partition with fdisk you may be able to just re-create the partition and your data may still be there.. i've done this inadvertantly a few times and using Linux fdisk i was able to recover the partitions and all thier data. But even M$'s fdisk can work. Try it you may just get lucky.

if you have no windows put in a system/startup disk and this should load fdisk. You can use fdisk the then re-create the partition.

If you have windows then you can download a "trial" version of partition magic 7 from kazaa. You can then use this to make new partitions.

    small update

Okay, here is the plan, I've got an extra 75 gig drive that doesn't work too well, but it works well enough to install windows, and I've got a copy of XP lying around, so I'll try that temporarily, then I'll load FDisk, and I am supposed to just create a partition on my secondary drive (the one I messed up)?
There is no restore, just create a new one, and hope it works the same way as my old one.. right? Please let me know before I do this, yes or no...

(btw.. I'm in a 1 bedroom appartment w/4 people until a week or two from now, so not much space to work... it may be a while before I reply back with Yeah, it worked!!! woot!, or, crap...)
    thanks for all the replies!!!!!!!!

You arn't gonna be able to restore that partition if anything is written to that drive.. And you'll need a third party program to pull it off to boot.. Try going to download.com and doing a search for "data recovery" or "restore partition"
youll find dozens of tools for the job..

    good luck

use a low level format programme to wipe everything off the drive. Then use fdisk to make a partition. The when you install xp you can make it convert the file system to ntfs.

theres another thread around here somewhere with some links to some recovery programs...whatever you do, dont fdisk that partition until you run one of those programs...
