Hi Within Active Directory environment (win2003 server) I have got 11 domains users. A new network printer Samsung CLX-6210FX installed on the server 2003 and shared On the server right click on Samsung Printer > Properties > Security tab for the group “Everyone “ set as below http://i46.tinypic.com/qobogo.jpg Although “ Everyone “ group has been given permission for print only , why would a domain user still be able to change the color as in the snap shot (this snap shot for a client PC not a server ) below http://i48.tinypic.com/2nkkw94.jpg Thanks
hmm well i would think that It is the default behaviour to allow users with the ability to print to controll all print settings. I would imagine if you can restrict the use of colour printing to certain users you may be able to do this via group policy. You may have to create 2 logical printers both pointing to the same physical printer? I'm not really sure but theres some things to play with =)
I had already setup two logical printers both pointing to the same physical printer on the server. One with color settings, and one with B&W settings. I named those printers accordingly, and shared them. Now on the color share...instead of sharing to everyone via active directory, I shared only to the accounts that I wish to allow to use it (my case two accounts). Now my question why would a domain users that have only black and white installed be able to change the color ? That means there is no restriction , that means all users are able to to print in color and this is not what I am looking for I do not know how to do it
