Anyone have any Retail Therapy ideas for me?

I've just had the final refusal from BT about getting ADSL. My line length is exactly 5.50km and although my exchange was one of the first enabled... I will never be able to have ADSL :(

I live down a dirt-track too, so no cable. Work are about to start off this "anything non-work related and you're sacked" thing as redundancy time is nearing. I spend half my life on the Internet and 56k is just too damn slow!!! :waah:

I need some funkeh ideas for Retail Therapy as I think being let loose with my credit card's a good way to get over this. Unless anyone else wants to lend me their credit card of course ;)

I know it's not much of a jump, but have you looked into ISDN? I have it at home, and it's so much better than a 56k link. Usually 7kbps both ways!!

I also live in a cable-less area, and my exchange is far from getting ADSL enabled (although I live very close to it, so distance wouldn't be a problem for me)

    Buy yourself an Ipod?

Get yourself a funky PDA? (Clie's are Good! ;) )

Order yourself the latest boxset of Buffy / Angel / Genre show of your choice from Amazon, before the Fascists at work close down you net access?

    erm.....

    Shoes?

    :D

(P.S. Have BT completly rule DSL out? they may be able to offer RADSL)

I will ask my other half what she spends all my money on when she gets back from town - then I can give you some pointers:)

I take it that you are already on an xdsl compatible exchange already but just too far away yeah?

I know people this has happened to and after a few attempts they have managed an installation - have you had sumwun from BT come out and test your signal strength? If not demand they come out!
There is a test number you can dial on your landline to test yourself (cant remember off the top of my head what it is though :( )- but it's at best inaccurate. If you have tried this method and not had a BT person out to check your line then you might want to get them round to see you.

I went from cable to 56k and it hurt - I only have to get 150 more people from my exchange to show an interest before I get mine.

I could be waiting for some time.... :waah:

    Got one already...

Got them too... and Angel 3 pre-ordered.

Yep, it was RADSL we were going for. My line is on the boundary limit and is apparently not stable enough. Can't get ISDN cos my folks won't allow Engineers in the house. Getting my phone line fitted in the first place was hassle enough!!

I think I will probably get at least one pair of shoes.... cos a girl can never have too many shoes. ;)

Damn Hex that is harsh. I went from 600k to 128k ISDN and that hurt. Is there no other method of you getting faster internet? I remember someone telling me about somekind of wireless thing we rolled out somewhere. Sorry I couldn't be more help ful.

    Indeed ;)

I'm going to have a look at Voodoo Shoes and some other sites, looking at my favourite footwear collection I see I have a couple of spaces at the bottom. They must be filled:

Please note the above are just my favourite shoes/boots, and the ones I could find pictures of... my entire collection actually fills a walk-in wardrobe, 2 more cupboards and 3 large boxes...

:hehe: thanks Stew. Gave me a much-needed laugh. ;)

And Lorquis, I was there... only SilverBullet turned up to chat about hair. By the sounds of it I'm home alone all this weekend so I'll be on MSN at some point.
