Agreed. That goes above and beyond the call of stupidity. Asshat drivers are a real problem here during the summer. Tourists visiting Cornwall often forget how to drive as they cross the Tamar. Stopping on roundabouts, pulling away from junctions without looking and randomly stopping in the road are common. The closest call was a few years ago on the Nancledra road at the Penhalwyn 'T' junction. Me and another guy, both on motorbikes, both visible for quite some distance were slowing from 60mph for the bends ahead. A car travelling from the other direction flashed a car waiting at the junction. The waiting car, without looking, waved the other car and pulled out on us. There was nowhere to go. A narrowing gap between the car and a Cornish hedge (a granite wall covered in grass) and oncoming traffic. No time to hit the breaks, they were too close. I can still remember every dent, every spot of dirt on the back and side of that tin can. Seriously, I thought my number was called. I went between car and hedge using the Force, the other bike making it through on the white lines. Pretty shaken afterward. I thought about stopping and confronting the driver, but didn't knowing I'd have smacked the stupid out of him.
Different road traffic laws, but to state position in the UK. No turns on red allowed. If the road has white paint indicating a lane is for left turn or right turn or ahead, then that is advisory, not mandatory. But if you don't follow the advice, and cause conflict, that could be classed as driving without due care. If a green filter arrow (traffic light) shows, then generally the white paint on the road now becomes mandatory, and failure to follow the traffic lights instruction, would be 3 points and a fine.
As my driving instructor said today......"Take your time until you get use to everything you have to do. the only thing you should worry about is the guy beside you not the people behind, after all I don't care about them, they're not paying me too" =D now, now, 2 wrongs don't make a right, 3 lefts do!!
I saw a silver Megane aggresively overtake another car in a 30mph zone *just before* some traffic lights on a bridge. While the light's on red, he gets out and starts having a go at the person he cut up. He then speeds off at breakneck speed when the lights change to green. The thing is, at the other end of the A6121, at the turn off for Bourne, the nobend was only three vehicles in front. I felt like as soon as he got back in his car, pipping my horn, but I didn't think I had any blunt instruments with me. Admittedly, the overtaken car was doing about 25-ish from then on (in the 30-zone), but they were probably shook up. I wish I'd taken note of the reg.
I hate those drivers who fly by you, way over the speed limit just to get 1 car ahead, then they do the same thing, weaving in and out of traffic just to get a few spots ahead. Really, if you need to be somewhere, leave early.
when someone is ducking and diving in and out of traffic overtaking for just a little spot, i force them to get behind me by blocking them off, then slow right down and watch for there chance to overtake where i then throw my right turn indicator on. It ****s with them so bad, drifting out a little really helps! My pet hate, lane hoggers! every time i come across one i break the law to undertake them, alot of them appear on the M1 near london for some reason?
Hardly surprising. Lots of drivers are complete pricks. I did lol though when I was learning to drive and got overtaken in a 20mph zone just outside a primary school.
I would have reversed. Let them taste the same medicine. Alltho it helps that I drive a larger car than I bet she did. And I wish I had a piece of C steel on the inside of the bumper in both ends. Even if that does not work I have a sample of heavy tools in my trunk.
I hate road users like this, you're in a ****ing car, try walking everywhere, then you'll see what slow really is. Made me smile quite a lot in my driving lessons, I'd be going along at the speed limit and then someone would be thrashing their engines to overtake. 5 minutes later I'm right behind him again at the traffic lights.
Sadly her Ford was bigger than my RX8, so that wouldn't have worked very well It was quite tempting to pop my trunk and get the huge wrench I keep in the emergency kit and bash her windshield in. I might have to call it in today though, I noticed cracks have started to form on the paint of the bumper. Sigh.
This is the reason my parents get a trailer hook on all of our cars. It stops people being pricks. Nothing kills the mood more than a wrecked radiator.
how about this. I live in ontario in the capital which is on the border with quebec. In ontario we can turn right on a red as long it's safe to do so and not indicated that you can't How ever drive 20 minutes over the border and you can turn right now. But not to long ago no. But there's more. More times than i can count people have passed on the right (ie the shoulder paved or otherwise.) The rule i use is drive the biggest, heaveist vehicle you can afford. Personally i perfer something like an APC but would take a tank if they were street legal
YES! Me wants APC.. That sure as hell stops peoples roadrage. Nothing beats an APC with that jetturbine from an Abrams tank
I wouldn't have been able to resist pissing on their door handle. I don't care who you are, or how important you think you are, the rules of the road are there for a (mostly) good damn reason. If you can't follow the rules you should not have a license.
Not much like our cars to piss us off like this. There have been several times that I almost lost it. Once when my old car was totaled. I was trying to make a left hand turn where I didn't have a stop sign. I stopped because there was traffic coming. There was a girl stopped on the street that I was turning onto that took my stopping as ok to go. She pulled out in front of traffic, oncoming traffic swerved to avoid her and hit me head-on. Lincoln Towncar destroyed my Kia Spectra... I was shaking too much to do anything though. She tried to blame it on me when the cop showed up and said that I waved her on. Another time I was making a left turn again and a car was stopped at the street I was turning onto. I'm in the middle of the turn when he starts to go and runs right into the side of my new car. I'd only had it about 3 months after my Kia was totaled. Worse, he started to drive away. I was able to block his path and then literally pulled him out of his car. My friend thought I was going to kill him. I seriously wanted to. Dragged him out of his car by his neck. Stopped myself though and just took his keys and called the police.
Even if you did wave them on it's no excuse, waving someone on isn't, "you should go now", it's, "I'm letting you go, but before you go you shouldn't be a stupid bitch and actually check everyone else is too". Isn't that the way the law sees it too?
I believe so but not sure. I've heard it both ways that it doesn't matter, it's on the driver to check before moving. I've also heard that it puts responsibility on you if you do wave them on. Didn't matter, I just said no sharply when the cop asked if I did and that was the end of it.
