I have most of the parts needed to put together a Socket A/462 based system. XP1700/2500, NF7-S, decent TCCD/UCCC DDR etc. What I need now is a graphics card. This will NOT be gaming (maybe UT99 once done overclocking). I'm looking to find whatever is most stable with the AGP out of spec. As said, this system will be overclocked, that's its primary goal or purpose. Can anyone cast back into the dim and distant past and pull some AGP shaped rabbits out of a hat for me?
If you want something era appropriate then you'd be looking at the Radeon 8500, 8500 LE or Gefore 3 Ti 200 / 500. Both camps had indestructible tanks as GPUs back then and the cards shouldn't be more than £5 -10 on the bay of flea. But if memory serves correctly the Geforce 3 TI 200 was the most indestructible beast of all, I remember torturing the one I had like a metal singer abuses his vocal chords and it kept chugging along just fine.
Ti200's are more like £50, but cheers for the input, they're on the list. Not really bothered about era-appropriate, more something that will accept the AGP being ran out of spec without much complaint.
