I have a dead IBM Thinkpad with a 14" Samsung screen. The screen is OK so I've been looking around for ways to modify this screen with a for example digital DVI connector so I can use it as a standalone screen. The model is a Samsung LTN141X8-L00 and I have all connectors intact including the backlight power converter (Hitachi INVC571B). Has anyone done remotely the same thing and can point me in the right direction? Shitty image of the screen
I believe the Kontron CRTtoLCD-2 LVDS controller board supports your LCD, http://www.kontron.com/products/pdproductdetail.cfm?keyProduct=34488&kps=1403&kp=160 I suggest contacting them with the part number of your LCD and asking for more information.
@kevo I did search but didn't find anything. Although I maybe should have posted this in the LCD mod thread on top, sorry for that. @infernis Great! Thanks for the pointer man - I'll send them an email immediately!
First of all I would like to welcome you to the forums, not that it matters much as I am a metaphorical "ghost of the world" (I never was ). Anyways please don't take what kevo says to harsh, it is just that we get so many of these threads and often the people who post them don't have a clue at what is involved. But yeah you will need a controller board as you can't just wire it up to a DVI port. If you want to know why or just all sorts of info regarding LCD (including laptop) you can view these threads.
