    Hi,

Has anyone had any experience with wiring an RGB LED up to the Aquaero 5? I'm keen to run at least one LED from one with the colour changing dependent upon system coolant temp, and I'm aware of this one: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-125-AQ

But - I wondered about driving a couple of bright RGB LEDs inside the case to light up the inside dependent upon coolant temp. I know that Maplin does RGB LED tape (as do others).

However - it seems that the power output of the Aquaero for RGB LEDs is a touch limited. Is it possible to control the colour with the PWM output, perhaps then powering the LEDs separately?

    Any help gratefully received! Ta.

    Cheers, Woodspoon!

Looks like if it's under 1A, I might be alright :)

Where have you positioned your LED?

I'll have a look on the Aquacomputer forums (I'm certainly looking to avoid the problem that the poster there had, blowing a header!

It's really worth having look around the Aquacomputer forums, the technical knowledge is quite impressive and it might take a few days but most questions seem to get answered one way or another, I've certainly found them very helpful in the past.

For a long while I had my LED up lighting into the bottom of a tube res, which looked really effective because blue UV fluid at the time and the LED reflected back off the underside of the top of the coolant, so most of the coolant was blue apart from the very top which was whatever colour the LED was shining.
Got a new tube res now and the way I've got it set up I wouldn't be able to see it so at the moment it's directed towards a few shiny ram heatsinks while I consider a new home for it.

A picture taken before I put new pipes and res in it.

Bit of a necro here, but did you get any success? I have a aquaero 5 coming and I would like 4 individual 5mm RGB's to mount in my reservoir.

Ended up mounting just a single LED in my RES.

Controlled by water temp and runs from Blue at room temperature, through green into yellow then hits red at 35C.
