I was thinking, an easy way to make my rheobus knobs a little less previlent would be to dremel off the ends (about 1 cm worth) of the rheostat posts, than the knobs could fit farther on. Does sound like it could be a good idea, or inherently bad? Also, could somone out there give me, or point me to some formulas for figuring out what a particular size rheostat will do to a particular voltage.
yeah, that will be fine d00d, just make sure you dont cut too much off or the knobs wont have anything to hold onto
You first need to work out the fan resistance. Then (with rheo on slowest setting) Fan volts = 12 * Fan resistance/(Fan Resistance + Rheo Resistance) So a 0.2A fan, Resistance = 12/0.2 = 60R With a 25R rheo, control range is 8.47-12volts With a 50R rheo, 5.45-12volts With a 100R rheo, 4.5-12v.
