    From El Reg:

The Recording Industry Association of America's attack on US culture has escalated at an alarming pace this week.

On Friday the lobby group that works on behalf of the large, mostly foreign-owned, music conglomerates that own the music copyrights and distribution channels confirmed that it was serving subpoenas at the rate of 75 a day on US citizens for the crime of sharing the music they love.

This signals a change of tactics for the RIAA: as now each individual file sharer is potentially responsible for thousands of dollars in damages. Once they were shielded by ISPs, but in the wake of the Verizon case, individuals are now exposed to direct intimidation. The RIAA is beside itself with glee: and boasted that a thousand music-lovers had already been busted.

    Boycott-RIAA campaign info Here :D

I hope they try to put half of the population in jail. They couldn't keep us all in. Would be funny watching them try. At some point this great country is going to realize they're mad. Either that or the RIAA is going to take over and the world will have to come to our rescue... not that they would...

i've completly stopped buying popular stuff because to be fair it has no artistic merit, the music i buy comes only on 12" vinyl. this is not on any major record label it's mostly on the artists own label. so the artist is the one making money not some fat cat in whatever b**** of a mansion.

i've bought one album and that was by radiohead and thats because i believe in that band and their music

You know, it really isn't wise to admit stuff like that on a public forum like this. If the Powers That Be read this, they could force us / your ISP to give them your details. This is (and the legality issue) is the reason why Warez talk is banned at Bit. :nono:

i'd like to see the day 60 million ammericans land in jail for pirating music, it'll cost the government $50 a day just to keep them there. for an average of three months each. thats a lot of money, and while they're there they can't pay taxes or buy new albums. if everyone keeps on sharing they wont be able to make a dent in our community. if the money went to the artist rather than some multinational *** hole corporation, then more people would go out and buy albums, because A: they would be cheaper because the artist wouldn't want to rip off their fans and B: we would have the satisfaction of telling that artist and not some *** hole corporation that we believe in their work.

It is ironic though..... news like this makes me think "fudge it, i will share my collection of MP3'S" which came from bought CD's.

I currently do not share them, but if the RIAA carry on like that, i may well do. Alot of the stuff is quite rare to, and doesnt always pop up on p2p's.
