Also from el Reg this lunchtime:

READER MICHAELA STEPHENS says that if the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) is right and that 60 million US folk are file sharing, it's going to take the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) a mighty long time to get round to them all.

She said: "I pulled out my calculator to see just how long it would take the RIAA to sue all 60 million P2P music file traders at a rate of 75 a day. 60,000,000/75 = 800,000 days to subpoena each person or 800,000 days/365 days in a year = 2191.78 years to subpoena each person".

    Full story here

They'd have more luck in stopping P2P by taking the Wisewoman's advice:

Wisewoman: Three other paths are open to you. Three cunning plans to cure thy P2P woes.
    RIAA: Oh good.
Wisewoman: The first is simple. kill the artists!
    RIAA: Never.
Wisewoman: Then try the second. kill yourselves!
    RIAA: No. And the third?
Wisewoman: The third is to ensure that no one else ever shares music.
RIAA:Ha, that sounds more like it. How?
Wisewoman: Kill everybody in the whole world! Bwuhahhhaha...

:D (Applogies to all Blackadder fans!)

Yeah, but the Wisewoman's approach would be the cheapest and most efficient. :hehe: :hehe:

A plan so cunning that it is more cunning than something very cunning indead:

Reduce the (rip off) price of CD's, or is that just way too cunning.

Once again, apologies Black Adder fans.

Alternatively, perhaps they should provide music on some form of analogue storage format that is harder to copy. Some sort of disk perhaps with grooves that could be read by a stylus which causes a magnet to waggle in a magnetic field to produce.... oh, hang on that's what we used to have before these newfangled, perfect sound forever, cheaper to produce but more expensive to buy CD's.

Maybe they'll come after me in 200 years! Then I'll make them spend lots and lots of money on the suit... only to show that I never d/led anything from an RIAA artist... MUAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH!
