    I wish all this rose tinted, nostalgia guff about Shenmue would just go away.

    It was an average, somewhat bizarre game at best, and has only been kept in the public domain by a very noisy vocal (tiny) minority of Dreamcast fans.

    I predict Shenmue 3 will come and go and everyone will wonder what all the fuss was about.

    First Shenmue was most expensive game for Sega at that time costing more than $80 mil.
    Sega had high expectations it would be gamechanger in DC/PS2 battle, it was not.
    I finished the game once, boring experience (remember that forklift job? wtf).

    this. i was already beside myself with glee at "welcome back commander" of the trailer but the change of role from defender to infiltrator, mod support and semi-random maps made me watch the whole 25min gameplay video and enjoy it all. probably only thing from e3 i'm gonna pre-order, though ff7 remake, last guardian and no mans sky are also a big deal for me.

    am i the only person without a current-gen console that saw the announcement that xbone 'will have backwards compatibility*', thought "whelp, guess that's the one i'm gonna buy then" then see the asterix meant about 50 games my phone could play ?

    Can't tell if sarcasm or...

    If it's not, PS4 already has a really fantastic system in place where you can rent releases for PS2 & 3, and the library is huge. Neither of them have any intention of physical backwards compatibility, though. Unfortunately.

    I've gone retro the hard way, got a PSone, and played..FF8
    .

    ...
    and no, I don't see the attraction, actually it's rather boring and lenghthisch, maybe FF8 is particularly bad?

    I also have FF9 lying around, but couldn't be arsed to start it yet. Worth it?
