Windows right click locks up explorer.exe

as said above really, when certain things are right clicked on, like my computer, explorer.exe locks up. if i end the process in task manager and run it again everything is fine? any ideas? its isnt my computer so im not entirely sure what could be causing it but it never happened before.

EDIT: forgot to mention it is win2000 with all the latest service packs and updates, running on an athlon 1200 via kt133a and 256mb pc133, gf2mx

 

right i have had a look and it appears that whenever an icon on the decktop is right clicked on it locks up, but anywhere else its fine

and apparently this has happened a few times before and the only was to do anything about it was to reinstall, bleh

 

maybe a cat or puppy chewed the mouse cable? could just be shorrting out and confusing the mobo.

 

Just don't right click!

I'd try reinstalling Win2k over the top of itself and hope it recopys whatever the file is its screwing up.

 

finally found out that a program called evidence eliminator was causing it, and to get rid of it you disable shell extensions
