Put it this way. Ive driven a A3 audi. Small little car. No turbo lag as you put it. And shure as hell is better refined than most small gasoline engines. But it is a turbocharged inline4. Your rite its not apples to apples. Comparison.

I guess im a bit closeminded but then again Ive heard so mutch bs from civic owners over the years whether they are in car shows or or people you meet. They rave about reliability when they scrap their cars @ 150k as most of them dont know how to drive. They rave about handling but it dosent handle all too well. Rave about aceleration when they have a fwd car with low tourque. Ive taken allot of this bs over the years and the sight of a honda makes want to puke. Ive seen a cuple of those idiots trying to lauch their cars and they removed the rev limiter and see a piston cracking through a head. Ive seen thoser idiots remove limiters and put those engines through 10k rpm. It aint a fi motor. And honestly I sugest you drive a good diesel for once. They are more responsive than they used to be. Diesel has come a long way from the valve clanking unresponsive turd it used to be.

I apologise to those making a good valid point. My views are not something that should be imposed on others.
As a last thought though. Manual tranny is fun but an auto sports car is still quicker than a manual slow one.

Audi A3...haven't driven one but my dad test drove an A4 once and I came along for the ride....the diesel engines in those are indeed pretty good, PD 130 unit in the A4 we tested, certainly much better than the older diesel engines, very quiet and refined in comparison :)

I appreciate your points about some of the Honda drivers, the sort of 'ricers' you talk about are somewhat similar to the boy racer types over this side of the pond...their cars are often reasonable ,but they put across a very distorted and exaggerative view of their performance and handling, to the point of absolute idiocy, where they think it can take anything on the road....Citroen Saxos and Vauxhall Nova/Corsas seem to be their vehicle of choice though, as a bit of a generalisation, rather than Hondas. Not truly bad cars though, just seem to attract the wrong sort of owner who thinks they're the fastest thing on the road when reality is somewhat different!

Anyway think I've said all that I felt needed to be said...will leave it for now :)
