I just bought a cheap PCI graphics card off ebay for a couple of quid, the seller had no information about it, and all I can find is the words, "Righteous 3D orchid" written on the back. I have tried googling it and all I have found is that it is an old voodoo 3dfx job (whatever that means...) If anyone can give me information on the performance of this hardware and how to install it that would be very helpful. Thanks woof82
its an old voodoo2 card.....but why would u want it.as u've got a x800?? its a very old card....an u cant use it with up2date hardware....as its a 3d accelerator...and works with 2d cards back in the pentium1 days.
im thinking not.....as the old cards were strictly 3d usage...as most cards back in the day were 2d..the cards were added for people who wanted to play games...i remember having one...as the output from the 2d card was fed into the voodoo card then the voodoo card would output to the monitor... ud be hard pressed to find drivers for it aswell...all modern cards are 2d/3d combined but in those days they were seperate. ur better off getting a pci radeon 7000....which i believe someone is selling in the forums. but how many monitors are you gonna run....u do kno that ur card is capable of dual monitors... its best also to get a another old pci radeon card as uve got a ATi card allready...and it would make sence as u dont have to put different drivers for a different make of gfx card for ur new output.
Yeah, I already have 2 monitors connected to my machine, but i have another 2 just lying around, so i bought a dual output orchid hoping that I could get them connected as well. Ok, thanks for your help, you advice is very useful also: found these drivers anyway, im rebuilding an old platform to use as a media center, so I could use this card for that if it doesnt work for my current machine
Nope you can't it is a strictly 3d card in the days when a graphics card did 2d duties only and this came along you grabbed it if you had the money to play games quake.
