Interplay lay off whole of Black Isle Studios Full story here at the inquirer As a huge RPG fan this has made me genuinely angry - like the inquirer said, it's just another example of utterly moronic management which seems to be intent on removing all originality and complexity from the world of gaming.
Black Isle Studios No More That was all that was posted, but you can find it here. There isn't a word of it on Interplay's website either. They were one of my favorite developers and I will miss them very much.
If a company needs to be let go, or branch, or team, whatever, fine. Its business and its understandable. But to do it at this time of year boggles the mind. Thats a sign of an extremely cold hearted person in charge.
I bet you didn't know that the majority of lay offs happen during this time of year. It's sad. Anyway, I hope they get back on their feet and maybe make a company of their own (like Dynamix did).
