http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/europe_syphilis So much for education solving such problems. I swear some people just want to be stupid Spoiler (Had to beat Cthippo to it just once )
It's pathetic. Condoms are widely available, and you should have some common sense. That's my common sense speaking. However, as I experienced myself, it is easy to lose that common sense - especially as to most guys "getting laid" (yay, like thirty seconds of pounding and you consider yourself a Man, eh?) seems to be the Ultimate Thing, at least that's what I gather from chit-chat here and there. Having only slept with one girl (who turned out to be a cheating whore), I wouldn't know. I never cared much about the Act before I committed to it, and I still don't. [emo] I guess it's too mainstream for me [/emo] They should make NHS-style STI/STD checks mandatory for all men. There's nothing like a metal swab up your pee-hole to make you want to wear a condom. Believe me - I learned my lesson. I guess there is a big attitude problem. Like I said a few lines above this one, most guys like to get laid. They like to brag about it to their mates. They like to think about doing it and thinking how amazingly awesome they are for shoving their dick up some fat chav's c'nt for two minutes. I never understood STDs/STIs until I came in "contact" (ended up clean, though) with them myself, until I realised how easy it is do it without protection - it just happens. Lust is a terrible thing. A colleague of mine once said "like, chlamydia, men don't have any effects from it, so why should I care?". Yeah, why should you care? Bar the potential symptoms you may experience, how about it could've been something much worse than chlamydia? How about HIV? When I said that to him, he just went "meh"... then again, he's English I do apologise, this has become more of a rant than I meant it to be. I shall end with a picture I made and partially stole: Sooty says it, so it's true.
I think this points out the limitations of education. You can tell people that unprotected sex is dangerous, you can provide education and protection, but at the end of the day some people are going to make an informed choice to go ahead and do it anyway. Safe sex is a pain in the arse (don't go there), and that is unlikley to change. As long as it's easier and more pleasurable to have unprotected sex, regardless of the possible consequences, venerial diseases will continue to spread. You do what you can, protect yourself, and don't get bent out of shape about what you can't change. You're welcome to it, and the occasional flames that go with it
even with a condom getting that close to somone puts you at risk of catching many things... just don't have sex with strangers.
yeah, I've witnessed that too. Honestly I believe that all the "education" in the world does nothing unless the values of the people change. .
there are condoms that make sex more pleasurable..... and these idiots are screwing up life for other people just because they want to get natural sex..... and now penicillin is almost useless, bacteria have become very resistant to it.
