I haven't done any cutting action so far so I will keep it in the modding forum for now. Bought a Rocketfish off of Yeknom through the forums, and all looks well! Since you've already seen a Rocketfish (jhanlons) I'll spare you most of the dis-assembly pictures. These are coming out, and I have a plan here. That fan will come out for now, exchanging fans and such. Out of focus picture showing all the space in the top. Fan out! Said fan. Air flows through here. Stuff that comes with the case. Roomie took this? Most everything is out. And whats that on the drive bays? Why its my Epia Via NL-1000! My favorite pico-itx board. Spoilers? Bought $80 of supplies at Frys Electronics. (Right across the street, not a good thing) Junk goes here! May put a fan here. Whats this? A larger HDD rack? I has an idea. Found a use for one of the racks. Newegg shipment! Fans, Controller for fans, AS5, CPU cooler, and I ordered the wrong psu Mounting stuffs for the cooler. Xigmatek Dark Knight cheesecake First real sleeving job All together! Sleeved the fans and wire extenders! I guess I did a good job. Flash! Planned: 1. Cut wire routing holes, maybe. See 2. 2. Make a plexiglass shroud/separator/false floor. 3. Custom wiring for the psu? Maybe. 4. Powdercoating or Watercooling.
You got the RF case and jumped right in. Off to a good start and quick too. I used mine for an end table for a year.
I had nothing else to do really, its something to keep me from getting bored inbetween classes and on my three day weekends. I need to find a dremel and soldering tool now. Thanks! And yes I am. We have to be in the dorms out first year, otherwise I would have a duplex with some friends down here. Sleeving the front panel connectors today, as much as I can. Almost out of the smallest sleeving(1/8" i think) since ~15' of the 20' I bought was used yesterday.
Keep a small buffing wheel in the Dremel and just tell anybody who asks that it is a dental hygiene accessory. Real men do their own dental work.
Well, two colors, White and red. I'm going to hide the Orange, Blue, and Yellow SMD LEDs on the board with some electrical tape for now until I think of a more permanent way. When I get the Xigmatek psu in I will be changing the fan led's to white. Thanks, the sleeving I got from Frys electronics has been the best kind I have used! I was surprised when they said we were allowed dremels in the dorm. Now I just need to go and buy one as well as a Drill since I can't screw in the fans the rest of the way
Cheesecake. Stuffs it comes with. More stuffs. Silly! You're in there wrong!(Thats NOT what she said) Note, LGA775 holes rotated from the normal. Also, this was a bad attempt to take a picture of the words on the cpu. Need to figure out manual focus. Lookin Good. I might have a way to fix the cpu cooler. Wire management or me playing around. You decide. Haven't hooked up the fan controller yet. My first tools that I purchased with my own money. Need to get the flexi-shaft for my dremel. And whats the plexiglass and bolts for? Here is a hint. Might mod today. Need to see how loud working in the dorm is, might have to relocate to my friends house.
Modded the powersupply, added white led's. Put electrical tape over the ZOMG COLORS smd's on the motherboard. Extended exposure cheesecake. The LEDs I used seem to be a little on the blue side, oh well. Havent made the mount yet, but it gives me Power button and led, Reset and HDD led, two buttons to add .1v vcore, and .1v dimm, PCIe jumpers, and a Bios/temp readout. Its looking better, but I am nowhere near done. Need to do: Mount for the ECP2 Cut the 3.5" bay Paint HDD holder Put in HDD Holder Holes for cable management Custom false floor/shroud/divider thing. Hook up fan controller
This is the only picture of me about to work. Also, don't try bending plexi this way, it just doesnt turn out as well as you hope. Making sure everything fits Taadaa! It works! I didn't even cut the chassis! Used two Socket head bolts or whatever. To attach the ECP 2 to the holder, I used cotter pins since I couldn't find anything small enough. Keep in mind this isn't the final product. This is just a placeholder/experiment since I have a lan to attend to on friday.
