So my friend is looking to buy a new PSU to support his graphics card, a X1900. I instantly told him Corsair as he's a bit budget-minded. But he also has enough money in gift cards to purchase a 550 W psu from Best Buy, a Rocketfish once. Hence my question is this, which brand of PSU manufacturers actually makes the Rocketfish PSU. I know Lian Li made at least one model of case for Rocketfish, so I figured it'd be worth a shot to ask. Thanks!
Isn't rocketfish a daughter company of Lian-Li? or a budget version of Lian-Li with similar designs and a larger range of random products such as keyboards, mice, mouse pads, etc. etc.
no, rocketfish is no association to lian. it's BBs house brand, one lian-li case just happened to get rocketfish branding once. most rocketfish stuff is crap, i'd stay away. even if some rocketfish PSUs came from a good OEM, there would be no guarantee that they all were good.
I hate it when relatives give me BB gift cards.. I just save up to buy PC games from there, almost none of the hardware is worth buying. Convince him to buy a decent budget one, none of the ones from BB.
Rocketfish is crap. http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/556/1 Also, lets not forget that Rocketfish and Dynex are manufactured for BB by Huntkey.
Thank you, all I needed to know to say no. Thanks everyone for your contribution to this, I'll convince him to go with the Corsair unit.
