If we were to revisit the UFO topic and the whole government thing. If aliens actually had visited I still stand by the fact that we would all acknowlege it rather than lie about it. I mean think of the aliens in our shoes( A tad off in terms of a hypothetical but bear with me), no emissary of another country randomly kidnaps the citizens of the country they visit (or implant them wih things, espionage is much less troublesome). Therefore if there were alien visitors, everyone would know. Plus aircraft that look like ufos are common, look at the B2 bomber or the SR-71 they look quite alien from far above.

Now with that out of the way, let's prove that humans aren't so special. The concept of self awareness and awareness of the group. Elephants. Elephants have shown mental disorders very very similar to humans. In fact elephants mourn, suffer bouts of depression, and are quite inteligent in their own right. Mice and dolphins too show such "human" traits. Therefore it's very difficult for me to accept that were one of a kind in terms of intellect. We may have imagination but one can easily say that our advanced imagination was a byproduct of our need for a more adaptive and advanced brain for survival.

Oh and manipulation of the environment isn't uncommon either. Look at any nesting bird. Or even better, look at beavers. At a basic level humans are honest not that unique, we just have to draw parallels if we want some perspective.

Oh by the way, I agree with supermonkeys correction, octopi have been continually evolving and still are, natural selection still hapens, I just needed to put it in simple terms that the environment did not necessitate brain evolution in terms of the octopus.

On an unrelated note I hate the bloody iPod touch keyboard. As hand y as it is typing out discourses such as this is quite painful.

Ah but is that not logically flawed? If we were to only take an eyewitness' account for a crime without considering the legitmacy of this particular witness and only take their word for gospel then are we not leaving a man out to die? The same applies here, just because one speaks to a witness does not mean they can disregard the other facts, like a jury in a court of law, if there is reasonable doubt then one cannot result to absolutes be it guilty or innocent, real or fake, orange or reddish yellow, if there is reasonable doubt then neither party is right.

Not to mention that ultimately the burden of proof rests on the presenter, if there isn't enough to eliminate all doubt, then it's clear that we have yet to ascrtain the absolute truth on a particular matter.

"What are the facts? Again and again and again-what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore divine revelation, forget what “the stars foretell,” avoid opinion, care not what the neighbours think, never mind the unguessable “verdict of history”--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your single clue. Get the facts!" R.A. Heinlein
