Modding Rounded IDE cable

    Hi eveyone.................

    How easy is it to shorten round IDE cables.

    Brought some from a computer show, And my god I think they are a little long......:sigh:

    I would think you'd have to be able to crimp the end back onto the shortened cable...

    I got some loooong cables, and the bloomin' things are seperated into individual strands in between the connectors making shortening almost impossible! Before you take off any connectors try to pull the sleeving back and take a look at the cable. If there is a nice flat bit where you could crimp down onto then it should work but if the strands are seperate then forget it and just buy some!

    Why don't they make these things in more reasonable lengths? I don't need 18" for a harddrive in a mid-tower :miffed: :sigh:

    One guy on the forum made his shorter, Just don't know how easy it is. Gotta try..............

    I shall let you know how i got on.........:p

    yeah, mine are all individual strands too.. looks kinda like twisted pair the way their woven.. ive seen round cables as short as 6" already..
