Hi, ive got a netgear router and im using it to block some sites so that my little sis cant go on them on her pc upstairs, it says in the options that i can allow unrestriced access to the internet through one computer, which i want to do with mine, but i have to enter the IP address of this certain PC, how do u find it out? its not the same as the ip adress i have whne i connect to the internet is it?

No it's not the internet IP address but the local machine's.

Click START --> CMD --> then type ipconfig /all
Then read the part that says IP Adress, it should be something like 192.168.0.2

And just FYI, that unrestricted setting is probably the demilitarized zone, which basically says 'screw the firewall, let me online'. Which probably isn't the best idea (totally exposed to hackers, etc). Though it's probably the only way to get around the filters, if my router is anything to go by.

You will also need to make sure both machines are not assigned dynamic ip addresses from the routers DHCP server.

most netgear routers have a table of which machines are connected to the router at that time in the config panel
