I'm looking to create a HTPC to serve media to my Chromecast, ideally using Plex.

I had a play around with a RPI model B a while back and found that it didn't really have enough power to transcode video for live streaming. Has anyone had a chance to test this on the more powerful B+? I couldn't see any change in processor spec, so expecting it to be little better at best.

    Thanks!

The processor is the same, It's just a little lighter on power usage and a slightly diffrent layout on the board.

Convert everything using handbrake and then it shouldn't need to transcode when you're watching it.

As Votik said, there's no difference in performance between the B and the B+. Same memory, same processor, same everything. The B+ just has a new layout, more reliable power supply and extra GPIO pins and USB ports. If you're trying to transcode, any Pi is the wrong tool for the job.
