I've had RSI in my left wrist for a while, im a dominant right hander but when i type the left hand is the one that is generally having to move the most, i recently got a new keyboard which seems to have solved my odd typing posture

I work where i put my wrists under large amounts of weight and strain which has'nt helped alot now i think i may have it in my right wrist

its not massive weight but sometimes im having to balance a tray one handed that may weigh 20lbs across an area of just over a a3 piece of paper so the weight is pulling my wrist downwards alot

Im wondering if anyone knows of anything i could use to prevent it, when i lift weights now it can really start to hurt, i don't expect anything to be used at work but something at home that could help me?

I hear PowerBalls are good for dealing with RSI, I'd check with your doctor though.

I had it a few years back in my left hand also. Bloody nightmare, sometimes my left little finger would completely lock up as well and I'd have to move it back with my right hand.

On the plus side my GF had to wash and shave me, it was too difficult otherwise... * cough * :)

Anyhoo, the best way I found to protect it was to strap it up in a rollerblading glove. It gave it alot of support so I could pick things up but it was pretty flexible as well.

It was one that covered the wrist and part of the palm with hole for the thumb to go through. Basic, but it did the job.

    Maybe that would help?

I'd have to say a cast is just about the best thing for RSI, when you're not working/just watching TV whack that on and it should help.

Sure its not carpel tunnel syndrome, go get it checked out at the doctors to be sure.

If its not that, then get down the gym and start beefing up your forearm muscles to help stabilise your wrists, nothing silly but regular exercise can really help.

Honestly, that rollerblading wrist support worked wonders for me. Gave it time to heal up as it enabled me to actually use my arm without randomly spasming out my hand.

I get it on a regular basis. Where I feel it worst is in the joints in my fingers. Powerballs do help for the wrist though, as does deep heat  My advice is to go to the doctor ASAP and get his professional opinion. There are plenty more ways to avoid it than to leave it alone and have to treat it and deal with it for the rest of your life.

It's exactly the same for me... one day I'll be absolutely fine, then depending on what I've been doing that day, the next my hands could be in agony. It's no surprise that I have it - between typing on a keyboard every day, playing the guitar and other strenuous and repetitive work with my hands like operating a tv camera on a tripod for a few hours a night, it was bound to happen. Plus, arthritis runs in my family. My father is even off work temporarily because of it at the moment.
