build a plexi cover that can be locked / padlocked to the desk, keep the k/b & mouse under the cover, nobody can get at the system, but as they can see inside the plexi box, will not wonder what that is in the box, if it were made from anything else...

and of course, with it being plexi, u have to add a few bloo leds.... :dremel:

first off how computer wise is this curious person?

secondly all you ahve to do is close down explorer in the task manager and the mouse and keyboard are locked out, all you have to do to re-active windows is to start a newtask call explorer, correct me if im wrong but would that not solve the problem?

KVMs are generally ok, since they do things like disconnecting the power before anything else (i.e. like USB does). Just pulling plugs out of the back of your PC can have some unexpected results.

And yes, I have seen a machine fried by unplugging the (PS/2) keyboard while it was running.

easy answer get a powered USB hub and run them off that as then they will not come up as add'd/removed Hardware as they are run off the HUB and the power is still going to the computer

K3nn: This may work but I think the drivers for graphic will notice and
shutdown itself,my screen gets dark when I shut my expoler.exe down
and when open one up again it fools around and I will have to restart the machine to make it stopp.
I have never heard about fryed PS/2 but I assume there is cases.
One of my USB-ports onboard is fryed :eyebrow: The other one works.

USB diconnects the data lines first. Power is last to be disconnected.

I honestly don't know if the board has a keylock header, the machine was bought prebuilt, (without my consent :grr: ) and has a generic P4 MB, and there are no manuals or writing on the board. :grr: I could open the case and try though.

Can anyone backup Twunka's recommendation? If it works it would be the easiest to implement, and with a pair of 4 pole 3 position rotary switches they could be easily disabled. We may be needing a hub anyways due to cable length, and if it's a good solution I'll do it.
