News Rumour: Apple to takeover EA?

This is a very dubious rumour, but Apple is apparently thinking to buy EA according to some sources.

EA's PC games will be killed off completely by Apple if this were to happen.

The idea of Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age being on Macs only makes me cry.... nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!! j/k

Oh god no. It's bad enough the last two CEOs ruined EA for the all mightly dollar. I can only imagine what garbage Apple will produce with EA.

 

No, Games for WIndows Live are primarily made by Microsoft Game Studios, not EA.
Personally, i don't see it happening, but if it does, then, ah bugger

Apple will bribe them all with limited edition, EA badged, gem studded 200GB SSD Iphones from the future with all the fart apps pre-loaded.

This is the most ridiculous rumour I've ever heard. Apple can't afford EA. What on earth do they have to gain from it? Apple haven't wanted any kind of gaming on Macs for a long time. This is just typical of tech journalists, anytime anyone says the word Apple, no matter what joke of a story follows, they will write about it

 

It will be fun to buy mirror's edge for 1.000 US Dollars just because it have a nice box design!...

I can't even imagine a corporation that would be more mercenary than this fusion...

Apple could easily source the funds to acquire Electronic Arts, so I'm not quite sure where people are coming from on the "apple couldn't afford it" argument. Take that in hand with some shaky financial performance on the part of EA and it's depressed value at the moment and they are a ripe target for acquisition, especially given the fact that it is a company that can make money.

And Apple have wanted gaming on the Mac, however, it appears that they lack the commitment to work with developers. There is a quote from Gabe Newell somewhere about Apple having ambitious intentions for gaming, but never being able to pull through. Given this, taking a game developer on board and the wealth of experience that would bring makes quite a lot of sense. Sure, starting with someone smaller would probably be more realistic, but stranger things have happened.

 

Sh1te EA games at Apple prices available only online, aggggghh, sounds nightmarish. If EA killed innovation in gaming, Apple will surely chop up its corpse and dispose of in a bath of acid. Console and Apple fanboys will still buy them though, which is depressing.

 

We'd be buying entirely new comps every 2 years to make sure we can play the latest games since you can't upgrade a mac, games would cost an arm and a leg, and have the apple logo stamped everywhere.

I highly doubt it'd happen, but at the same time I sincerely hope it doesn't..
