I have a portable hardrive and I was wondering if theres any way I can run windows xp completely on it to the point where I could actually remove my hardrive from my computer. I just think it would be cool to be able to take my entire operating system anywhere i go.

Unfortunatly, it's not as easy as that. Different motherboards and graphics cards will no doubt end up with a BSOD, or overall system instability. I'm not saying it's impossible, because I know I don't know everything, but i'm saying IMO it's very unlikely. To be honest your better of getting a linux distro on a pen drive, and then using a portable to store all your files

Windows 98 will work on pretty much anything I believe, but after that the HALs get in the way. A lot (all?) of Linux distros are portable.

    Like Brooxy said, try Linux.

From what I've heard, some versions can be run quite well off of a jumpdrive/portable harddrive.

Probably the RAM, and that's why you're so limited on what you can do, since it can't right and read files off the harddrive at will.

One last question I was wondering how to make it to where my hard drive won't log anything I do permantly. For example I could go online and go to tons of different sites or I could save and delete files or use programs and my hard drive wouldnt keep a history of any of it. Basically I want to be able to use my computer but if someone where to scan my hard drive it would show up as though the only thing on it was a fresh install of windows xp. If anyone could help I'd really appreciate it.

Check out some software named Mojopac. It does kindof the same things. You take your apps and what not with you on a drive and it works well. Used it for a little bit till my trial was up. check it out

Do you need an internal hardrive in order for it to work?
