The lesson from Georgia should be that the US is unable and unwilling to protect you from the Russians if you piss them off enough. Last I checked, Poland has no oil and if the US is unwilling to fight for Georgia, which does, then what makes you think they will risk war with Russia to protect their eastern European "allies" :eyebrow:

We need a big alien to kill half of new york.

I would have thought that the US would try to defend their missile defence sites though. Especially since they'd be likely to have US troops stationed there.

Seeing as this is supposedly a defensive base, I don't see what Russia has to get angry about.

They'd probably let them get killed (or kill em off themselves) just to have an excuse to send the heavy artilery in...

    lol, here's a funny thought...

If we represent the different nations in the microcosm of a stereotypical American High School...
The Americans would be the jocks - stupid and wealthy, and ready to fight anyone for the stupidest reasons ever. They have a lot of 'daddy's cash'.
The Russians would be the self proclaimed 'gangstas', who carry firearms and have a lot of 'beef'
The Israelis would be the school bully - enjoys bullying the little guy and stealing lunch money.
The Chinese are the computer geeks who do everyone's math homework
The British would be the cheerleader - who enjoys making out with the jock, and beeing a bitch
The French would be pretty boys - who listen to boy bands, and carry a pocket mirror.

That was clearly indicated to be a bad idea by Osterman, they'll just get a war with the real aliens

Haven't you watched Doctor Who? Aliens prefer to demolish London, not NY.

Poland is part of the EU and NATO. If Russia decides to take military action against Poland, all hell is guaranteed to break loose.

England and France were allies of Poland prior to WWII. When the Nazis invaded, they declared war, but did nothing else to help.

When there was the Warsaw uprising, the Russians sat on the outskirts of town and just let the resistance (and the city) be destroyed before going in much later than they should have. Poland and Russia have been adversaries many times over the centuries, so there was no reason to hurry - not to mention that Russia attacked Poland just days after Germany invaded to acquire new territory.

It looks like Poland is shopping for reliable allies.

This missile defence system, is it Patriot or some other missile to missile system, or the Laser one they've been working on?

On a side note, boeing have had a more sucessful test fire with that, later in the year I believe they are going to do some air to ground tests of actually firing it.

Back on track, I'm more concerned that the Russians have't just said Polan is at risk of an attack, but a Nuclear one! That's more alarming to me, I know it's mostly bluster but still, worrying none the less.

As for allies, I think Polan knows Europe is on it's side (in the main), especially us, if it went all kung fuey over there we'd have to help, where else are we going to get good plumbers who don't cost a fortune.

The Cuban missile crisis arose after America sited missile bases in Turkey, just over the border from Russia for the geographically challenged. You think the US would be happy with the Russians setting up a base in Venezuela? For protection against "rogue States"?
Like Iraq was a defensive invasion...

As far as i know, i think we have still got a 4 minute warning here in the UK, USA i think is a 12 minute, however that is if the missle is lauched from russia.

Russia has had a few empty threats, such as last year when are government were demanding that chap linked with the death of Alexander Litvineko, russia sent two nuclear bombers to fly over the UK, however RAF Tornado's based at RAF Marham near where i live, took off and intercepted the russian aircraft and forcefully escorted them out of european airspace.

I dislike the way america is gradually taking over the globe with there way is the right way, and anyone who dislikes it can go **** themselfs.

With recent events in Georgia, why did america have to stick its nose in there business? Only because BP has oil and gas lines there, thats why, nothing to do with politics, just dam money interests.

Its because for the past decade the Americans have had a war president (bush's words not mine) and a war economy which is to say that their economy and politics are based around keeping their civilians looking at the outside world as a potential threat and the need for protection from that threat.

The moment peace breaks out and their electorate can start looking inwards at their own government and loss of liberty's etc American's economy will collapse and America will go up in flames.

Its just a pity its never going to happen as most Americans actually believe that their government is there to help them not them being there to serve the government.

That's not me being Anti-American by the way as I believe that the same thing is happening in the Uk. the government seems to exist as an entity in its own right with it having no responsibility to be held liable for its actions towards anyone including the general public.

We now exist to serve the government not the other way round there's a reason this country is now called a nanny state by so many.

Btw this post made so much more sense in my head when i was typing it but I couldn't think of the word I was looking for and ended up using half a dozen words instead of the one I was looking for :)

2nd Btw the word I was looking for was culpability :)
