Dunno, seen plenty of tearful people in Moscow.

When I was in St Petersburg a while back there certainly wasn't any love for Putin and they were pretty open about it. But then that's a fair way from the Kremlin.

If that's the consequence, can we invade somewhere?

Finger on the pulse as ever back in November.

Warning signs have been there since Crimea, moreso since troop movements to the border and 'exercises' in Belarus. Others saw it, wafflemeister is dangerously stupid, inept and/or doesn't give a crap.

There must be a few tax havens we could grab, laden with tax dodger's money we can plunder.

Interesting to hear my local MP at work, with a more coherent sense of what's going on than the PM. TBF, Ellwood is ex military and keeps in touch with that sphere.
I have great respect for him as a person, particularly in what he did when HoP were attacked, not necessarily behind his politics.
Like elsewhere, my vote is almost useless (@ElThomsono and I have said it before) as Bournemouth East is full of blue rinse conservative voters who will never vote differently.

My local MP, Conor Burns, was found to have used his parliamentary position to threaten someone, he had to resign. Not to worry, Boris brought him back into the cabinet.

If only he'd used his parliamentary position to threaten Putin instead!

I would request that we all refrain from posting anything that you wouldn't show your kids or your granny... but I'll also note that the dude in that car survived, amazingly.

Trouble is it's war, it's never SFW.

War isn't safe for anything, but that doesn't mean we need to turn the forums into Rotten-dot-com or LiveLeak. I'd rather not watch people get squished, shot, or blown up while I'm eating my tea, y'know?

    True enough.

There's also how legit vids are, that story has been verified but plenty haven't.

I guess you're right, I just remember eating tea watching the Falklands war. Then again, it is a Serious thread - knowing he got out alive made all the difference.

Hm, not sure tbh. Part of me forces myself to watch things like that, they have to suffer worse so why should I hide from watching what they suffer?

    Tricky. I am musing.

The Guardian are reporting prominent Russians are protesting the war and 1800 have been arrested.

Not nice for them but nice to see Russian opposition.

Mearsheimer is pretty based and he's a hard core realist when it comes to International relationships.

Pretty much bang on with his predictions

    UN live right now...

Resolution to condemn Russian invasion did not pass because of Russia's veto. China, India and United Arab Emirates, abstained.

Watching that kind of thing is well-known to be damaging. There are people out there with no legs, but I can empathise with them *without* hacksawing off my own foot.

If you have a need to sample their suffering in solidarity, take a bit more money than you're comfortable spending and donate it to the relief efforts. Bosh: you feel a bit of pain *and* you've actually helped. Win-win.
