Not sure this game is just a FPS - there seems to be a lot more tie into the environment and characters making it a hybrid of FPS/RPG. In fact, didn't the reviewer say just that?! :-D

Can you guys at bit-tech comment on whether enemy/dropped weapons are steal-able? Is this done via the kit salvage you mentioned? Like, I kill a sniper with a pickle-fork and I get his Barret M82A1? :-D

I so want to play this game...

"It would be lazy, but not wildly off the mark, to describe S.T.A.L.K.E.R. as Oblivion with guns. And radiation." :hehe:

It looks like it could get me in trouble, like oblivion, morrowind, and gta with the large area and all the time I can play.

Has anyone else considered what this might be like as an MMO? Sounds like, in addition to being Oblivion with guns, it could also be WOW with guns assuming the Stalker guids were similar. Possible mod?

One question: What do you mean, when you are talking about a "monster PC" is needed to run the game smoothly? Can you tell us the system specs? Thanks a lot!

Probably needing a 8800 series to run it at a decent frame rate. But this is still beta code, so optimisations will come.

What were you running it on though? I'm sure that you managed to get a good frame rate at 1600x1200 and that would be a good performance indication...

Well, the build we played specifically asked for 2GB of RAM. We found the sweet spot for our system was:

    Core 2 Extreme X6800
    GeForce 8800 GTX
    4GB RAM
    X-Fi Fatal1ty

This gave us a decent frame rate at 1280x1024, 0xAA 8xAF.

So, you can see why we hope the performance gets sorted out before launch :D

The special effects looked impressive, however the textures on the other hand in some cases looked very very unimpressive

I like the idea of Deus Ex style again though :)

    I can't wait

Sounds a bit much for what you get graphically... 4GB RAM??? I doubt you ate into anything over 1536MB unless you are running Vista. An 8800GTX should perform better than that, hell Oblivion which is the worst coded game in a long time runs at 1920x1200 with AA and AF on that kind of setup...

It's an unoptimised game - it's basically finished and they're optimising before finalising system specifications.

Would you be pissed off if I told you (Tim won't he's too nice to admit it) that it was just some parts we had lying around  :hehe:

Ouch, they better do a good job... Otherwise this will be added to my list of games that failed (but are still horribly popular for some reason).

I was sure you are based in/near Bedfordshire...
