hey, do i need a special box to connect to an RCA port from my S-video jack or can i just use one of these: thanks in advance edit: i know the s-video end should be male, thats not the point of what i'm trying to ask....
Just use that. All it does is convert the video to diffrent pins. The only thing is that you won't get audio through your telly. Good if you have a separate amp.
ohhhhhhhhhh thats cool, i didnt know s-video had audio in it also.... is that what the s stands for? (sound)
I think the "S" stands for Super rather then sound. The Cable here is what you'd want for sound aswell. The one you posted will be fine for converting the video. You'd then just need a 3.5mm jack (or whatever the sound output will accept) to RCA (red & white - which is left & right audio).
The S-Video connection holds the same line as the composite (RCA) connection, but also others that improve the quality of the picture, the picture quality will look less but to what extent is debatable. Also it does not carry audio. 'doc
I use that and a speaker extension cord (two male connections) to plug into the yellow video port on the front of my TV
