Motherboards S771 CPU on S775 motherboard?!

    Does anyone know of a Motherboard that can take S771 Xeon CPU's?

    I have a E5420 Quad core with 12mb cache sat about and want to use it but dont want to buy a dedicated S771 board as they are around £300 for a half decent one!

    Somewhere I have heard that there are certain S775 boards or chipsets that can take the S771 CPU?

    Anyone know anything about this?

    No it doesn't - we've tried it before. The notches on the side are different :(

    We did.

    We modified the socket but it still didnt work.
