Hi Shing here! Done lots of designs and thinking and av settled on a design that i think will cover what am trying to achieve here,

    1. Compact tower unit - that can be further modded in future & be compatible with new future hardware.
    2. Keep it simple - sticking to budget so a clean well functional case will do the trick. Also because its my first mod am tryin to keep it simple and not get over my head..
    3. Water cooling is the key to keeping the 360 cool, quiet & sharper on the graphics. I will make a enclosure for the CD drive, two reasons.... 1. looks 2. noise reduction..

    My ideas

    More Info on Design.

its a bit more clear here - hopes this gives you a better idea of what it may look like!

The side view is open to help explain whats in there, the only original hardware am using from the xbox 360 is the Motherboard, Cd drive & the original PSU.

Heres the Illustrator files of the cut out parts that will go through CAD Using the CNC machine down at my Uni. Still waiting for access at the moment, but should be 2 weeks max - the guy that runs the workshop cut me out some little bits (corner connections) to give me an idea of how fine a cut I can get. Using a 3mm bit, not allowed to change the bit size. Thats uni for you! but it comes out nice. used black 3mm acrylic - gonna use a mixture of 3mm and 5mm acrylic.

Heres the sample I got. Cant wait to get the rest cut! Am also helping a friend with the cutting -
denis6902 - He's got a mad project on the go building a production 360 for modders to buy - water cooled also. Heres the link - http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=166731&highlight=Deathbox

Since av got to wait like 10 days before the CNC is available done all the boring stuff.

got some cables together to make a molex connector to solder onto the back of the mobo power source entry point.. 12v & 5v for the Pump & LED Also slapped up 3 other LED's to be wired to the front Memory card slot 3.3v - wont be using these as I will run a Hard drive.

    Boring stuff

12v and 5v for backside of mobo
    [IMG]

Heres it soldered on. bit messy, borrowed a soldering iron from uni. bit big but it done the job. putt extra solder on purpose cause microsoft used hardcore industrial solder on their boards. I wants it to stay on good and proper!

Also got two temp LCD sensors for the CPU & GPU.
cut the wires to adapt them to a usb connection so they can be easy disconnected if need be in future modding/ upgrading of this enclosure.

    Testing
    [IMG]

Cut out the mobo side panel 26.5cm x 29.7, Black 5mm acrylic, also made small feet or catches so the board sits right. also using the corner samples from the guy at the uni workshop to mount them up. Gonna be spraying this enclosure one colour so starting to sand down the glass finish with 1200 wet n dry sandpaper so the paint sticks better!

    what ever you done
    i can see em now
    looks interesting btw
can you get a better shot of that molex that you put on the back of your board?
and how much power will it be able to supply?
could you tell me how many 12V fans it will be able to power?
    thanks if you can

Yeh no problem. Basicly The Molex has a 12v (Pump) and a 5v (LED) This power can be safely source from the back of the mobo. Heres a link explaining in a much simpler manner! Note it is possible to get 2 x 12v and 2 x 5v but you will be pushing the psu a little harder.

How to get safe 12volt & 5volt power from the xbox mobo.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2iZXg4LnnE

Av tested it, It works and IS SAFE! Dont take power from anywhere else on the board.... And am using 2 x 120mm silent 12v fans but they are getting power from the existing fan connector on the board (where the original fan was connected) It Has 2 x 12volt power through it, Note! this voltage climbs from 5.5v to 12v as the system powers up. It is a wise idea to use the original fan connector as the speed of your fans will climb up and down in RPM 'In sync with your GPU as you use the xbox for different tasks, I.e games, voltage will boost to 12v, system idle will sit around 5.5v.

Heres a pic of the fan connector.

Hope this helps man! You can run 12v fans on 5volts. will reduce the RPM and be more quiet! so you could run 4 fans of it if you really wanted to.

    Heres my power list/

    Pump - 12 volts

    2 x fan - 2 x 12 volts

Extra LEDs - 3.3 volts - From the memory slots on the front of the board, (wont b using them for data saves as I will be using a hard drive) so gonna take the power!

Heres a pic below so you can get it yourself if need be.... 2 x 3.3 volts available... again, solder to the underside of the board...

    hmmmm
    thats cool!
well i was going to try and run 4 120mm 12v fans
i think that i will use the on board connector for the rear rad
and take power from the PSU itself for the other 3
    thanks for the help man
i cant wait to tear into the space heater
    but im switching between jobs
so that might take a while
