    Hi,
I recently bought a system that is essentially the Feb 2011 Premium Player recommendation in terms of the storage components.
Unfortunately, I have encountered a problem with the combination of the three components in the title that I do not how to solve. The core of the issue is that, for some reason, I cannot seem to be able to select the SSD as a boot device on the BIOS (neither on the original 702 or the 1006 I updated to at one point) because the Hard Disk Drives item under Boot Settings will not appear. The only drive available for booting is thus the Samsung HDD plugged into the regular SATA2 ports. This also applies for the F8 boot menu. However, I know that the SSD is indeed being detected somehow because it does appear on the Drive Xpert Configuration screen and is even available to the Windows 7 installation. Strangely, though, the Rocket 600 controller BIOS that is mentioned to appear on the installation guide never appears during the booting process...

In contrast, if I plug the SSD into the onboard SATA 6 controller, I do get a screen for the Marvell controller during boot-up specifying the detection of the drive and the the HDD boot selection menu on the BIOS.

Since this very combination of components was suggested by Bit-tech, I imagine that it should work (they do check what they suggest, right?) and either some step is eluding me or perhaps one of my components is somehow faulty...

Can anyone offer some feedback? I have seen a couple of posts on the forum by Hamfunk, who seems to have a similar configuration to mine (and which helped me greatly to get the SSD running on the onboard SATA-6 controller, at least. So thanks!)

I run a very similar setup; (sabertooth, C300). The Marvell SATA 6Gbps controller onboard the Sabertooth is plenty good enough for you to not worry about using the Rocket 620 unless you're really obsessed with getting that extra 20MB/sec.

Nevertheless, I'm surprised you've had issues with the Rocket 620; in my experience, it's been a case of plug in and go, with the BIOS recognising its ports and allowing you to boot from them. Try reseting the BIOS to fail safe defaults and enabling all the drive controllers in the BIOS< even the ones you're not using; I've found this to work for me in the past.
