    What do you think ?

Is it safe to run a motherboard on a wooden desk with nothing between the mobo and the desk ?

I have two mobos here, but no case and no switches, nothing ... so whats your opinion ?

You can't, only moderators can. What would you like me to change the second option to?

    :)

If the motherboard is like most and has an area around the screw-holes that is safe (i.e. you don't need washers to screw it into the case) then put screws in the holes upside-down and with the extra clearance that grants you, you could lay it on a metal workbench if you wanted ;)

Oh, and be careful of anti-static bags, they usually have a silvered layer on the outside so if you're gonna lay a running mobo on one, turn it inside-out first.

    Sorted :)

Anyway, I imagine it would be fine since wood is non conductive....

it's fine aslong as it isn't highly polished (i.e. has a static charge)

man i ran it on carpet once, but that was just to make sure everything works before i put it neatly into the case.
i think anywhere can be safe for a short period of time

It's fine, unless you have salt water/lager on the desk.

it should be fine, but I would stick an antistatic bag underneath the motherboard if you have one :)

    just to be safe :cooldude:
