Just started saving up for a true custom, 1-off brush with a handle made from pipe briar and a super dense silvertip knot. Got to get together about £150 plus a little extra for fuel as I would very much like to collect in person once it is done.

Trying to think what sort of shape to go for now and whether I want any other little embellishments done.

That remind me that I'll need to purchase a new brush in a near future. I dropped my silvertip few months ago and a shunk of the handle came off.

I was wondering where can I find the alum blocks?? I am planning to use my DE razor for the first time tomorrow as soon as I go to Wal-mart to get shaving soap and brush.

Make sure you get a nice crystal block, not a cheap one that is basically compressed dust. G. F. Trumpers sell them, as does Taylor of Bond Street, but save yourself money and just buy an OSMA one, which is just as good.

    BTW here's my shaving pr0n:

Well that's the thing.. I am not sure where I can find that type of block here in town but I'll have to look.

In case you can't find one locally, get a Styptic. It's the same thing but you handle it like a pencil and apply where you cut yourself.

BTW if you go in the first pages of this thread, you can find some good shaving tutorial on youtube. Remember, low pressure, a good prep and a good lather.

I agree with this. One more thing to remember is that you are reducing the amount of hair on your face, not removing it. When i started DE shaving i keep trying to get a BBS (baby butt smooth)shave and it resulted in a lot of irritation.
