    I don't see Sam & Max :(

Good news though. Everyone in gaming adored the pair, and it's great they're making a return. The cartoon series was pretty cool too.

    EDIT: Wait! Wait! His arm!!!

    Sam and Max rule

I own all those games old adventure games from lucas arts ... my favorite being Monkey Island with the sword fighting ... wish was written by Orson Scott Card who also wrote one of my favorite Sci-Fi books "Ender's Game".

It has been so long since I have played Sam and Max but I still remember the world's largest ball of twine. Great times.

hmmm ... I think I have something to do for the next week ... PEACE

I still play those games with DoxBox when I get really bored. The golden age of gaming, indeed.

Time for some Fate of Atlantis, methinks.

I remember the days!!! It came on several floppy discs, and required using the manual for a combination of activation codes prior to playing each time. God I loved that game...

Monkey Island 1 and 2... so much fun in such a tiny package :) LucasArts never managed to recapture the experience with episodes 3 and 4, which lacked the absorbing atmosphere of the previous incarnations.

Day of the Tentacle was another "most excellent" adventure game, with its wacky characters and off-the-wall décors.

And of course the Indy series and Sam & Max. Grim Fandango didn't quite do it for me.

I wonder why LucasArts isn't pumping out those excellent adventure games any more... I kinda miss them.

    Woooow

I dearly hope this means that they will be bringing out a new sam & max!

I really miss the old adventure games, I think grim fandango was the last adventure game I played, and that was years ago!

Mine's on CD... as are all of my old lucasarts talkies. In fact the audio made them pretty sizable... I think they totalled about 300MB on the CD each (though a 1kb config file for installation was all that went to the hard drive) Just a simple configuration once and it's set. So much easier with Dosbox as well, just because I could actually find what the (emulated) sound card's port and IRQ are (220, 5, I think maybe IRQ7), not just take a random shot in the dark at it.

Was a bit funny... I tried to use some old laptop to play back in the day with no sound card, tried to use an external (parallel, I think) CD-ROM drive's headphone jack to hear anything. Didn't work, either.

Head over to the SCUMMVM and download the appropriate package.
As for the actual game, you'll need to buy it (or obtain it some other way).

I actually have Sam & Max/DOTT/Maniac Mansion loaded onto my K-Jam...it's gotta be the ultimate 'look what my phone can do' pimpage!

Yeah, I never really got into it though (although I do remember Chris Barrie did the voice acting).

I seem to remember they were, but Lucas Arts axed it, along with Full Throttle 2...

...probably because they don't contain the words 'Star' and 'Wars'.

iirc, LucasArts 'official' reason (for canning S&M2) was becuase they saw no market for an adventure game.

    Idiots!
