hi im thinking of buying the Samsung 2TB spinpoint f4 hard drive has any one got any reviews or experiences with this drive. the hd also states that it is capable to perform at 7200RPM drive speeds even though this is a 5400rpm is this true?

I've seen this drive advertised as 7200rpm aswell and so am also wondering what the real drive speed is.

it depends on the testing method...

Well, a quick look at nl.hardware.info shows that, whilst it scores fairly well in HD Tune, the PC Vantage tests are somewhat poor...

Yeah, i actually own 4 of these drives (installed in a DAS) & they are noticeably slower than the 1.5TB F3s - but, as they're only being used for long term data storage (& a bit of media serving), speed isn't critical for my usage...

...the big things for me are - (having been very happy with the 1TB & 1.5TB F3s) i believe they'll be reliable, i needed the capacity & the cost was reasonable.

I just bought a couple of F4s a weeks or so ago. So far so good, no problems. I don't really care about there speeds since they are meant to be storage drives anyways

Slight bump, but I'm looking at picking up either one of these or the 2TB WD Green drives for media storage. Does anyone know which one is the better choice? It seems like the Samsung is cheaper so I'll probably just go with that if they're similar.

Just ordered a Samsung F4 2TB for back up to my Samsung F3 2TB (happy with this drive for storage).
