This is really confusing me. Samsung lists the 970P as using a PVA panel (another site mentions it's their proprietary Super PVA panel), and due to the extremely wide viewing angles (178 deg and confirmed by people who own the monitor) I'm believing that it in fact is a PVA panel. However, the part that confuses me is that PVA panels are 8-bit, not 6-bit, but people on some forums are complaining of it actually being 6-bit color and they're saying it uses dithering. While I do know that some 8-bit panels use dithering when using non-stock display settings to make up for the colors that are lost, how are these people concluding that this is a 6-bit panel? I've also heard that people are experiencing "twinkling" with this monitor, which also suggests dithering, but it's just dithering, and not 6-bit or 8-bit. Gah! Anyone know what's going on here? Are these people just retarded or did Samsung cripple the PVA panel to use 6 bit instead of 8 bit possibly to lower the response time?

    IIRC it's 6-bit with dithering :(

But it IS a PVA panel right? A 6-bit PVA? THAT's the part that doesn't make sense.
