so last night I went to my local tescos for the weekly shop and found in the mobile section the new samsung galaxy s3 being setup on display for the release today. got a chance to check it out for 5 mins before they closed the phone section. first impressions are pretty damn good. the screen is the main thing i can comment on, being use to iphone 4s, I want to see what the touchscreen would be like and it was prefect, very similar to iphone standard or even better i dare say. the response was amazing in swiping to different pages. the first thing that pops out was the screen, its pure size and clarity was insane and put my iphone to shame. unfortunately i couldnt get a feel of how heavy it was or how it felt in my hand which i really wanted to know as it was securely held down to a heftly metal brace. tescos only had one white demo phone out and another dummy phone next to it. the store was the new one in swan centre birmingham. also i am a total noob at andriod so couldnt check out any specials but did view some images which were amazing and i also typed a text which was decent too. just incase anybody was interested as i have been waiting long and hard for this. pics to follow

I was tempted by this, but then I realised the leap from my S2 to this wouldn't be that great, so I'll wait for the S4...
If I want a massive screen (I currently use a Dell Streak 5") would I be better off getting this or the Note?
I recently upgraded to an S2 from an old HTC and I was overwhelmed by the size and clarity of the screen so I can only imagine what the S3 will be like. Personally, I think the Galaxy S2 screen is already better than any screen coming out of the cider clique, I prefer more usable area (800x480 vs. 480x320(doubled for retina)) and a larger screen. I made a PPI calculator and did the sums back to back for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone 4S: Samsung Galaxy S3 iPhone 4S Thanks to the aspect ratio, Samsung can put in a screen which is more than 70% larger than the 4S and only 1cm wider. Although it is Apple-speak, the S3 is technically a retina display also. I think it's going to be the marquee Android phone for a while.
I have used the s2 but not for long enough to make a comparison but I can tell you my dads Htc desire with latest software it beaten. The responsiveness was 5/5 and thats to a 3/4 year iPhone user. I'm on waiting list with phones4u for an upgrade. Got panther plan with 600mins Unlimited texts 1gb Internet 2 swappables (sky sports) For £28.50 per month with £100 cashback.
I've ordered the blue one which has been delayed unfortunately so have to wait 2 more weeks until I get mine £500 sim free -£250 from Carphone warhouse recycle for my iPhone 4 so not a bad deal at all
