Hey all. I have just purchased a 40 inch Samsung UE40F6200Ak TV and was wondering about the HD settings.

I turned on the TV tonight and it stated it was in 1900*1080i not P. Now is this normal?. Is there anyway to change it to P or is it that the Virgin box is sending it a 1080i signal?. I'm not to hot on this topic as you can see lol. I have used the Samsung TVs E-manual and nowhere in the settings does it allow you to change the resolutions. I'm guessing it is the Virgin box?. Does that mean the HD channels are in 1080i and cant be in P? to.

If someone can clear this all up that would be great :).

You can check in your Virgin box but I know the standard vbox sends stuff in 1080i only

It's the source, your tv just reports what information the vbox is sending. Which tends to only be 1080i. To test this switch the vbox to 720p and see what the tv reports.

HD channels are 1080i, both Virgin and Sky are the same, I'd assume Freeview HD is the same but I've never tried it.

This format is used as it requires less bandwidth than 720p or 1080p, so you can fit more channels in the restricted broadcast bandwidth available.
