Hello, Will this ram run in an x79 mobo without any issues? --Samsung Green 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz 30nm Dual/Quad Channel Kit (MV-3V4G3D/US) [MV-3V4G3D/USx2] Many thanks!!!!
If green still stands for economy ram then your better off buying another type of ram. 16gb is pretty cheap though at the min in most of the major ones.
This Samsung stuff is meant to be pretty damn special, as it's made on a 30nm process so allows for very good OC's or some such. And yes, I don't see any reason why it won't run without issue, correct me if I'm wrong.
This TechPowerUp thread is basically the anectodal encyclopaedia of this Samsung memory. From what I can recall, the general consensus is that you can buy two unmatched pairs and they will work in quad channel. In fact, this memory seems to put its best foot forward on the X79 platform with some of the best OCs being achieved on the Sandy Bridge E platform. With regards to motherboard compatibility, it never hurts to check the QVL that each motherboard has listed on its website, but these sticks should present nothing out of the ordinary. edit: Just noticed that you are referring to the quad channel kit, they weren't available when I was researching the RAM. The fact that they come as a set should be an extra reassurance that they will be compatible with each other and with your motherboard.
I have 16Gb too. Insanely low profile, almost looks like you forgot to install it. And hits 2400mhz easily.
