hi all i recently (a few weeks ago) bought a samsung yh-920 mp3 player unfortuneatly the cable has slowly become duff, i can see the bare wires in the moulded thing, so i decided to strip it ive currently got this the plug that goes into the mp3 player: bare wire = 5v+ (guess) green = ? yellow = ? orange = ? red = ? black = ? brown/chocolate = ? on the USB plug: bare wire = 5v+ (multi-meter says so!) red = ground white = ? red = ? black = ? green = ? on the power cable: bare wire = 5v+ white = ground whats freaking me out is the fact they could just use simple colour coding nothing really matches (bar the bare wire!!!) if anyone could help me i would GREATLY appreciate it! as ive got to take this mp3 player with me on holiday to south africa, and REALLY need to get some more music on it! and i cant with a duff cable i leave for SA on monday! i really need this! if anyone can help i will be VERY VERY VERY VERY grateful and love you long time!
after pissing round with the multimeter i have realised the plug that goes into the mp3 player: bare wire = Ground = Guessing green = Data + = Guess yellow = ? orange = ? red = 5v+ = Guessing black = Ground brown/chocolate = ? on the USB plug: bare wire = ground red = 5v+ white = Data - black = Ground green = Data + on the power cable: bare wire = ground white = 5v+ i have no idea what the others can be, bar extra grounding, so im going to wire it up with the colours matching eachother, and if it works hoorah this can all be thanks to mr chobbler for telling me to "DO IT" in an msn conversation... thank you mr chobbler, you are a god... not
ok, yellow is out of the equation, tugged on it and it just came out, without removing itself from the plug, so im guessing yellow is just there for show :S
