I'm not too sure of the best place to get tools where you are but for the type of sander, i'd definately go for a "random oribital sander"
how come you want to use an electric sander if you dont mind me asking? I recently started modding an old Deskpro case (its still a work in progress) and found the sander not that effective, and seems to scratch the metal easily. A lot of people seem to stick to using wet and dry from what I have read around the web. That said has anyone got any recommendations of what sort of grit to use for the best possible finish?
for heavy sanding electronic sanders are nice, but for lighter sanding, i would definately go witht he good old fashion sandin block
I have a Black and Decker random orbital sander and I find that it takes at least twice as long to get something done with it than with a sanding block. It also does a poor job and is hard to be precise with, I end up sanding off too much in spots and not enough in others. I stick with sanding blocks and a good belt sander for other stuff.
